The striped beast, Equus Quagga, has been here for two or three million years, there being no real agreement on what role the stripes have played in its continuing existence.
Perhaps they're there to confuse predators or to mess with goggas as they attempt to land to snack. Or maybe the stripes are for thermoregulation, the black ones absorbing heat in the morning, the white stripes, which reflect more light, cooling the zebras as they graze in the blazing African sun.
Be this as it may. My rendering looks out a further few million years, assuming the beast is still around. By this time, it is just stripes.
